The theme for the course was Everything Everywhere All at Once. For my photography project, I used randomly selected images from Google Street View and assembled them into a Möbius strip. The strip connects the panoramic images into a continuous loop, transforming a flat series of images into a three-dimensional object. By turning and pulling the strip, different perspectives can be discovered and new connections between the images can be revealed. The project questions how our perception of proximity and distance changes when we have access to almost any place in the world at any time. It also reveals the power structure behind this wealth of data: Google controls this huge collection of images and thus determines which parts of the world we can see.
